The new PENCILCASE album entitled -SWINGCORE- (release Feb. 29th, 2008 via Modern Noise / Cargo Records) finds them staying their snotty melodic rock - course in a vivid and independent way. Having captured their release on their own initiative, they present authentic rock-hand-crafts, nooks and corners intended. No mirror polish but certainly not LO-FI. Anglophone, non make up, down to earth. A band ready for almost anything. Not more - and certainly not less. Looking ahead.

The term -Swingcore- came up during their first acoustified-gig and has stuck with the band, since. Call it the bands humorous introspective self understanding in contrast to the usually delineative and partly politicised synonyms in the music genres. Or, for those who have a hard time coping with more modern and more subjective designations: Call it ROCK!

PENCILCASE are being supported by the independent label -Modern Noise-, the publishing house -Fragmento- and the distribution company -Cargo Records-. The single -YOUR MOUTH- will be released February 29th-2008 via Modern Noise / Cargo Records.

PENCILCASE are passionate and very committed musicians, who preferably find themselves performing live on stage. This has led to having played more than 250 concerts and to have toured Europe twice, during the first couple of years, already. Performing for example in London (The Underworld/The Garage), Manchester, Birmingham, Genoa, Milan, Duesseldorf (Tor3), Cologne, Munich and Berlin (Wild at Heart).

The line up consolidated in 2006 and answered the band's demand for musical identity, personal commitment, and a not solely scene-bound existence:

Joscha Golzari (vox), Tim Matuschek (git), Norbert Pelzer (bass), Michael Matuschek (drums).

PENCILCASE have shared the stage e.g. with Dog Eat Dog, Samiam, Claus Grabke`s Alternative Allstars, Brant Bjork, Knorkator, Sub7even, Lord Bishop, Thomas D's Son Guko and the Mimmi's - and have long surpassed the 300dthst concert mark. In autumn 2004, part of their performance at the German TV -Rockpalast- was broadcast in one transmission row with the H-Blockx and Doro. In 2006, the world wide release of the Atari PC-game -CRASHDAY- featured 3 PENCILCASE songs, including the theme song.

The four guys also have a lot of fun playing acoustical instruments. Reduce to the max!" Wasn't that the slogan? Far beyond common unplugged-melancholy-stereotypes, PENCILCASE do not at all sound less groovy or whole-hearted in their -acoustified- mode. An autonomous full-value character: The Pencilcase Swingcore Combo!

PENCILCASE self-label their music -Swingcore- with a winking smile. Who witnesses them perform rocktified or acoustified, will rediscover what enthusiasm, dynamic performance and play joy are able to cause! And that's no platitude.
