The Go Set
BIOGRAPHY
Singer/songwriter J.Keenan began his musical career forming garage rock act Eddie Would Go in Melbourne in 1996.From 1996 until its split in 2001, Eddie Would Go performed over 1000 live shows, released 3 albums and 4 EP's independently, and toured several times around Australia, the USA, Canada, and Europe. Three singles from the band's last album achieved high rotation on US College Radio, and charted in the CMJ College Music Charts throughout 1999 and 2000.
In 2002, J.Keenan formed The GO Set - with the same energy and passion for the road and live performances as its predecessor, The GO Set began performing almost immediately with a swag of songs written in the interim period, Bill Frost of the City Weekly in Utah wrote of the new material: "If Radio Birdman were the old wave of Australian surfing punkrock, then this is the new. An impressive release for such a young band...... highly recommended".
In 2003, The GO Set released a limited run of an EP titled "Welcome to the New Dimension", which was largely an introduction to the band. It mixes
swaggering rock and pop influences with old school punk, and bagpipes. Three tracks from the EP were recently featured on the Globe World Cup
Skateboarding TV program and film, as well as numerous surf and snow films.
In April 2004, The Go Set recorded their debut live album "Sing a song of Revolution" at Birdland studios in Melbourne with producer Lindsay Gravina (The Living End, Magic Dirt, Spiderbait). Recorded in only two days, the album captures the live sound and energy of the band. The live performance has also continued to grow, and is still the foundation upon which the band bases its longevity and support base.
"Not knowing what to expect from a band is a refreshing change. With all the energy and unpredictability of the Pogues, the Hard Ons, and Dropkick
Murphys combined, this was one of the most explosive and dynamic rock n roll shows I have witnessed...... be ready for it when it comes".
The Buzz, November 2002
